Coaching Bio:
Nick "Whitey" White is entering his second season with the Hawkeye Hockey program and
first as the new head coach. Whitey held the assistant coaching position for the 2007-2008
season and was promoted to head coach after the end of the 2008 season.  Prior to joining
the program, Coach White coached in the Quad City, IA. for the Quad City Blues of the
Midwest High School Hockey League for seven (7) seasons. In his seasons behind the
Blues bench his teams set then records for Wins, Best Regular Season Finishes, Best
State Tournament Finishes, and most consecutive tournament qualifying.

Coach White was born in the Chicago suburbs, but grew up in Pittsburgh, PA where he
played high school and college hockey, and attended the University of Pittsburgh.  He has
lived in the Quad Cities since the summer of 1981 and has been involved in coaching
hockey since 1994. He holds the Advanced Level #4 USA Hockey Coaching Certificate.
Returning players and new players alike will find his intensity and love for the game hard to
match.  He preaches team work, respect and all out effort and strongly believes that
DEFENSE wins games and Offense gets all the glory.  A self-proclaimed "grinder" in his
playing days, White relishes a hard work ethic and disciplined play by his players.  If you
decide that Hawkeye Hockey is for you, be prepared to "saddle up" and "bust hump" for
Coach White.

Nick’s other interests includes playing golf (poorly),running (slowly), movies, ESPN (junkie),
Shakespeare (wife's idea) and enjoying his daughters and grand kids.  A huge Hawkeye
fan since moving to the area, Nick is extremely pleased to be part of the Hawkeye Hockey
program.  He will strive to keep the program moving forward, "Building a Hawkeye Tradition".
