Iowa Prepares to Travel North for Tough Test
The Iowa Hawkeyes hit the ice twice this week, as they do every week, to practice for
their upcoming games. There was one significant difference this week, however. This
week the Hawks practiced in preparation for taking on the #4 and #9 ranked teams in
the ACHA's Central Division on back to back nights. The Hawkeyes will leave Iowa
City at 9:00 AM on Friday and head to Allendale, MI where they will take on the #4
Grand Valley State Lakers at 9 PM Eastern. After spending the night in Allendale, the
Hawks will head an hour further north to Big Rapids, MI to play the #9 Ferris State
Bulldogs on Saturday.

The Hawkeyes will enter the weekend on a roll as they have won 5 of 6 games to
start second semester. The IceHawks will be looking for their first win against a
ranked opponent this season as Iowa comes in at 0-6 against ranked D2 opponents
and 0-8 overall when two losses to #6 Iowa State D1 are included. The Hawks have
the additionally tough task on facing both Grand Valley State and Ferris state on
their respective senior nights.

Iowa needs at least one win to have a chance at finishing above .500 for the fourth
consecutive season. While the Hawkeyes cannot qualify for regionals even if they
sweep the weekend as the final 2007 ranking occured this week, a win against either
or both teams would also help solidify Iowa's place in the Mid-America Collegiate
Hockey Association's Gold Division, as well as benefit Iowa's schedule for the
2007-08 campaign.

Notes: The Hawkeyes have only two games remaining on their schedule after their
GVSU/Ferris St. trip. Those games will be against Northern Iowa @ 9:00 PM on
February 23rd at Young Arena in Waterloo, and at 4:45 PM on Saturday, February
24th at Coral Ridge Ice Arena in Coralville
