Hawkeye Named to 3rd Team All-Central
University of Iowa freshman Mike Giles was one of 18 outstanding players in the
ACHA's Central Region to be honored with a selection to the All-Central Region
Teams. Six players were named to each team, and Giles was selected as a Wing on
the 3rd Team All-Central. Giles led the Hawkeyes with 29 goals and 19 assists for a
total of 48 points, 15 points more than Kyle Norris, who was the next closest
Hawkeye. Giles recorded those numbers in just 23 games for an impressive 2.08
points per game in his first season as an IceHawk. Throughout the entire 2006
season Giles demonstrated his ability to find the back of the net and was a great
asset to the team and the Hawks can only hope for a similar effort in the 2007
season.
