Homecoming Week Kicks Off Season
The Hawkeyes Hockey team will be taking part in the University of Iowa's homecoming
festivities this week. On Wednesday the 28th the IceHawks will be present at the UI's
Sports Night at the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame which is located at the
northwest corner of Melrose Avenue and Mormon Trek Boulevard in Iowa City. The
IceHawks will be present from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM on the third floor and will be
signing and giving away posters along with numerous other items.
On Friday the IceHawks will play their season opener at Coral Ridge Ice Arena
against the Northwestern Wildcats at 9 PM. The series will continue with game two on
Saturday which will be at 4:45 PM and also at Coral Ridge Ice Arena. The IceHawks
head straight into their first MACHA Conference series without having played any
practice games, but with over a month of practice under their belts. The IceHawks
went 1-1 against Northwestern last season, winning the first game in convincing
fashion, but dropping the second game by a score of 1-5 with a dismal effort.
This series will be the IceHawks' first opportunity to defend last season's
championship and the Hawks hope to open conference play strong and build towards
a third consecutive playoff appearance. This weekend will also be the first series
beind the IceHawks' bench for new Hawk's coach Todd Larson. So come out and
support your Iowa Icehawks on homecoming weekend at Coral Ridge Ice Arena!
