Hawks Add Assistant Coach
The freight train that is Hawkeye Hockey keeps chugging down the tracks, as the program fits another missing piece
into the puzzle with the addition of new assistant coach
David Barwig.  The former Hawkeye netminder, a 2006
Graduate has accepted a position as assistant coach for the upcoming 2008-09 season.  Barwig will help Coach
White in a variety of areas including practice planning, bench management and more specifically become the
goaltending coach, the program is desperately in need of.  Coach Barwig will also contribute strategically in the
marketing and fund raising aspects of the program.  David is a native of Quebec, Canada, and is currently employed
by TMone, Inc. in their marketing department, including work with pro sports teams.
Barwig expressed his strong desire to help continue the new found growth of the ice hockey program.  His
enthusiasm and love for the sport and the university bodes well for the current and future players coming into the
program
David's educational background includes medical and exercise science enabling him to assist with athletic training
issues as he possess many diagnostic tools, as well as a major in behavioral psychology, extremely valuable for a
goaltending coach.  Read more about David and his hockey and personal background by hitting the link -
