Academic Schedule - Practices & Games
Hawkeye Hockey does its' best to schedule practices that will not conflict with the majority of class
schedules.  At times students will have no choice on class times and they may conflict with scheduled
practice times.  Hawkeye Hockey
DOES NOT advocate students missing classes in lieu of attending club
practices.  Academics come first and foremost and the coaches will certainly take into account a specific
students' academic schedule when conflicts occur.
Home games for the most part will not conflict with the academic schedules of students.  Away Games will
require students to miss classes on Fridays when the traveling distances warrant extra time to meet the
game time start.  As a recognized University Club Sport, excused club absences for said club activities is
typically granted by the class professors.  Unfortunately there may be times when a student will not be
excused for an exam or other class assignments. The club does its' best to limit these conflicts and takes
each conflict on a case by case basis.
Transportation Practices & Games
Players will need to find their own transportation to and from Coral Ridge Ice Arena for practices and
games.  In the past, more than enough of our members have provided transportation for students who do
not drive or have access to a personal vehicle.  This is a tightly knit group of players who will help
accommodate everyone. For Away Games, the club utilizes University of Iowa vehicles from the general
motor pool. Two vehicles, along with a trailer for equipment and supplies are secured for said
transportation.  Team members will be responsible for driving these vehicles to and from the away games.
Adult supervision is provided by the team staff and will oversee that all appropriate rules are followed to
maintain everyone's safety.

Miscellaneous Information
Our program is fun and exciting, offers great camaraderie, friendships, social events and a lifetime of great
memories.  We want you to be part of all of this, but you
MUST to be willing to commit your time, effort,
dedication and hockey experience into continuing to make the program successful.  We do take this
seriously and have very high expectations each season to improve on the previous year's success.  At a
minimum we expect to contend for the league titles each season and make the ACHA regionals (GOLD)
and eventually qualify for the nationals (GOLD).
